taiwanese fairies
pre-trip anxiety
I know when i talk to you i present as if i land in a country and start sputtering Korean, French, its all song and dance, i hop on the metro, tram, subway, what have you and the local fairies become my mates.
You see, i present well.
What i, as a personality, am unable to show you but wish i could, was the crippling anxiety that captures and cripples me before, during every trip.
1.
Stressed to the point of a self-indused headache before flying to Taiwan
Booked a flight to Taipei 2 days before departure..just because
Stressed myself because no tourist/traveller goes to Taiwan.
I have only heard of students going to taiwan.
The language is hard, in absence of an avid tourism culture, will they be open and warm towards me. if warm is too much of an ask, would they be neutral, would they be not hostile
What does Taiwan even look like?
I am embarrased to say..whats the language?
How will i get around?
Will all the subway stations have instructions in Chinese (googled if they have engligh at all)
Are people helpful?
My sense of direction is very bad
Taiwan ended up being my favourite place so far.
It was the most welcoming country in the most unpretentious, un-fake way.
I kind of think of Indonesia as the 'heyyy girl' in this aspect, but Taiwan is the warm, friendly, introverted girl in the dorm next door, who will not go out of the way to be your friend, but if it clicks, she will be your bestie for life
Keep going.
